Live Broadcast on The Glorious Sound of the Piano Special Concert Shir Semmel – Piano Recital Janacek – “Sonata 1.X.1905 (From the Street)” JW 8/19 Schumann – Davidsbündlertänze, Op. 6   Bartok – Sonata Sz. 80 Beethoven – Sonata in E flat Major, Op. 81a “Les Adieux”   Pianist Shir Semmel has been personally invited by Sir Andras Schiff to play a series of recitals throughout Europe. On Friday, July 5 she will be presenting a preview of her recital program in Ein-Kerem.  The four masterpieces on the program present a narrative of love and farewell. Janácek’s devastating sonata was written in response to the tragic death of a young protester, while Schumann’s Davidsbundlertanze was dedicated to Clara, following their engagement. Bartok’s sonata is a breathtaking example of the duel relationship of 20th century composers with the traditions of the Viennese Classics, and finally Beethoven’s Les Adieux Sonata, dedicated to Beethoven’s beloved friend, Archduke Rudolph, who had to flee Vienna.  29 Hamaayan st, Ein kerem – Jerusalem Tel: 02-6414250 Facebook Email: edentamir@013net.net
